Review your plan options with a fresh set of eyes.
Your questions matter whether you’re happy with your coverage, considering a change, or unsure what a plan notice means. A review can help you understand how your coverage fits your needs today.
We’ll compare available options from the insurance companies we represent, explain the tradeoffs, and help you understand your enrollment timing. You decide what to do next.
Start with what matters to you.
Tell us about your doctors, prescriptions, pharmacy, budget, and travel. Have something specific on your mind? Start there—you don’t need a complete checklist to ask a question.
Make sense of your plan information.
We can help explain benefits, cost sharing, and your plan’s Annual Notice of Change. That notice describes changes taking effect in January, so it can be a useful starting point for a coverage conversation. Learn about the Annual Notice of Change.
Understand whether and when you can change.
You can ask for guidance throughout the year. Changing Medicare Advantage or Part D coverage requires an applicable enrollment period. A review does not obligate you to change plans. Explore Medicare enrollment periods.
Start Medicare with a clearer plan.
Your 65th birthday can bring a lot of mail—and a lot of questions. You don’t have to sort through the choices alone. We’ll help you understand the decisions ahead and prepare for a coverage conversation.
Start a few months before your birthday or expected coverage change so you have time to check your current insurance, ask questions, and coordinate next steps.
Understand your enrollment timeline.
For most people turning 65, the Initial Enrollment Period includes the three months before your birthday month, your birthday month, and the three months after. Some people get Parts A and B automatically; others need to apply. Your circumstances affect the right next step.
Check your employer coverage first.
If you or your spouse are still working, ask your benefits administrator how your coverage works with Medicare. Employer size, the type of coverage, prescription benefits, and any Health Savings Account can affect your choices and timing. COBRA and retiree coverage follow different rules from active job-based coverage.
Separate signing up from choosing coverage.
Part A and Part B enrollment is handled by Social Security, or the Railroad Retirement Board when applicable. Choosing Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, or Part D coverage involves additional decisions. We can explain those paths and compare available options from the insurance companies we represent.
You can sign up for Medicare without starting Social Security retirement benefits. If you’re already receiving benefits, check whether you’ll be enrolled automatically. Your Medicare and retirement decisions do not have to happen at the same time.
Medicare plan options in Phoenix.
The right comparison looks at how you receive care and what you could spend throughout the year. We’ll review available options from the carriers we represent using your county, ZIP code, and individual needs.
Medicare Advantage
A private-plan alternative to Original Medicare that includes Part A and Part B benefits, and usually Part D. Compare networks, copays, referral rules, and the medical out-of-pocket maximum. You must continue paying your Part B premium.
Learn about Medicare Advantage →Medicare Supplement
Works with Original Medicare to help pay some covered out-of-pocket costs. We can explain Plan G and Plan N, premium differences, and when underwriting may apply. Prescription drug coverage is generally purchased separately.
Explore Medicare Supplement plans →Prescription drug coverage
Review your medications, dosage, preferred Phoenix pharmacy, formulary tiers, and coverage rules. A plan’s monthly premium is only one part of the prescription-cost comparison.
Get help with prescription coverage →Medigap and Medicare Advantage are different coverage paths; Medigap does not pay Medicare Advantage cost sharing. Availability, eligibility, costs, and benefits vary. Compare coverage options at Medicare.gov.
Keep your local care at the center of the conversation.
A familiar insurance-company name does not tell you whether a specific plan fits your care. We’ll look at the exact plan, your providers, and the locations you use.
From North Phoenix and Deer Valley to central Phoenix and Ahwatukee, phone and virtual consultations make it convenient to get personal Medicare help.
Check individual doctors and facilities.
If you use Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center, or another facility, we’ll review the exact location and your treating providers. Hospital participation alone does not establish that every physician is in network.
Compare costs at your pharmacy.
Bring your medication names, strengths, and preferred pharmacy location. Preferred-network status, drug tiers, prior authorization, and other rules can affect what you pay.
Think through time away from Arizona.
Spend part of the year elsewhere? Review access to routine care at your other destination, along with emergency and urgent-care coverage. A PPO label alone does not confirm that a particular out-of-state doctor will see you.
Look beyond the monthly premium.
Compare specialist visits, imaging, outpatient procedures, hospital stays, and the medical out-of-pocket limit against your expected care. Learn what counts toward the Medicare Advantage maximum.
Phoenix Medicare questions.
Clear answers to help you prepare for a personal conversation.
Is there a fee to work with a Medicare agent in Phoenix?
Medicare Universe does not charge a fee for Medicare education, plan comparison, or enrollment assistance. Insurance carriers compensate licensed agents for eligible enrollments. Your insurance premiums and other plan costs still apply, and you are not obligated to enroll.
Can I get Medicare help at any time of year?
Yes. You can contact Medicare Universe throughout the year to ask questions, understand coverage, or prepare for a future decision. Enrolling in or changing Medicare Advantage or Part D coverage requires an applicable enrollment period. Medigap follows different rules. We’ll help you understand what may be possible in your situation. Learn about Medicare enrollment timing.
What’s the difference between annual enrollment and Medicare Advantage open enrollment?
The Annual Enrollment Period, also called fall Open Enrollment, runs October 15–December 7 and allows changes to Medicare Advantage and Part D coverage. The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs January 1–March 31 for people already in Medicare Advantage; it allows one switch to another Medicare Advantage plan or a return to Original Medicare, with the option to join Part D. Special Enrollment Periods may apply after qualifying events. Medigap has separate rules. See Medicare’s enrollment-period guidance.
Can you help check my Phoenix doctors and hospitals?
Yes. We can help review the providers and facilities you use against the specific plans you are considering. Networks can differ among plans from the same insurer. Confirm participation with the plan and provider, including the exact practice location and whether the office is accepting patients under that plan.
Which Medicare plan is best for me?
There is no single plan that fits everyone. Your providers, prescriptions, budget, travel, enrollment rights, and preferences all matter. We compare available options from the insurance companies we represent and explain the tradeoffs. We do not offer every plan available in your area.
Can I get help if I spend only part of the year in Phoenix?
Yes. Tell us where your permanent residence is, where you spend time away, and where you expect to receive routine care. Medicare Advantage service areas, provider networks, and out-of-network rules need a separate review from emergency coverage. Original Medicare and Medigap follow different provider-access rules.
When should I start planning if I’m turning 65?
A few months before your birthday is a useful time to begin. Your Medicare sign-up window generally starts three months before the month you turn 65, but employer coverage or other circumstances may affect when you should enroll. We can help you understand the questions to resolve before choosing coverage. Check Medicare’s enrollment timing guidance.
Do I have to collect Social Security to get Medicare?
No. You can apply for Medicare without starting Social Security retirement benefits. If you already receive Social Security or Railroad Retirement Board benefits, enrollment may be automatic, depending on your circumstances. Check your status rather than assuming you need to apply or that coverage will start automatically.
Do I need Medicare if I’m still working at 65?
That depends on your current coverage. Active employer coverage, employer size, and other factors can affect when to take Part B. COBRA and retiree coverage are different from coverage based on current employment. Check with your benefits administrator before changing coverage. Read Medicare’s guidance on working past 65.
Can I switch to a Medicare Supplement without health questions?
Acceptance can depend on your timing and circumstances. Your Medigap Open Enrollment Period and certain guaranteed issue protections can allow you to buy without medical underwriting. Outside those protections, underwriting may apply. The rules differ from Medicare Advantage and Part D. Read Medicare.gov’s Medigap guidance.
Do I have to visit an office to get help?
No. Medicare Universe is based in Phoenix, and consultations can be handled by phone or virtually. You can start with the request form and arrange a time to discuss your questions.
What should I have ready for our conversation?
Start with your questions, county and ZIP code, and any current coverage. If we compare plans, a list of your doctors, prescriptions, and preferred pharmacies can be helpful. You don’t need everything ready to ask for help. We’ll explain any next steps. Please do not submit Medicare numbers or medical records in the initial request form.
